Arthritis pain is hard to handle and it is only natural that an individual will be looking towards various alternative treatment solutions in order to reduce the amount of pain felt. There is nothing pleasant in joint pain, stiffness and inflammation. Regular medicine does help but this only happens to an extent. We do see many cases of patients having to live with pain for the rest of their lives so should they try alternative arthritis pain relief solutions or not? The proper answer to the question is: “Maybe”!

We are dealing with a rich market here for alternative solutions including special diets and nutritional supplements. In most cases we are dealing with methods that are not harmful for the body but that do not offer any proof to the statements made. Most alternative arthritis pain relief solutions do not have a documented study behind them that backs up the benefits claimed.

One of the most common solutions offered as an alternative arthritis pain relief solution stands in acupuncture. This technique involves the insertion of thin needles at specific points of the body. Acupuncture is very popular and there is some proof that highlights the benefits it has in some given diseases. On the other hand, when dealing with arthritis pain, we do not have such proof. Glucosamine and chonroitin do have proof behind them and stand out of the crowd of alternative natural pain relief solutions. On the other hand, they will only be effective when dealing with mild to moderate arthritis pain so they might prove useless when dealing with more serious cases.

Believe it or not, the key to this entire situation stands in talking to your doctor. Some alternative arthritis pain relief solutions can be damaging in your case and this is why the specialist needs to give the go ahead. If the doctor feels that the alternative solution you are thinking about does not negatively impact your situation, he/she will incorporate alternative treatment in your regular treatment solution. Even if there is no concrete proof that something will work, the nature of some forms of arthritis and the various ways it affects different individuals might lead to the body reacting differently to some alternative arthritis pain relief solutions available. The bottom line is, if it is not dangerous for your body (the doctor needs to decide that), you should try it out if possible!
