In fact, the biggest problem with arthritis stands in coping with the pain and individuals are constantly in need of arthritis pain relief solutions. We do have a lot of solutions available, all tailored to the specific needs of the type of arthritis experienced but one thing is common: the need of arthritis pain relief medicine.
There are a lot of debates going on about pain relief medicine and most of them concern on safety. Different studies that were linked to popular painkillers like COX-2 inhibitors have highlighted the heart attack risk associated to the medicine. Because of this fact, many individuals decided to switch their treatment solution. Instead they focused on taking other medication, including nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, also known as NSAIDs. Common drugs under this class that are regularly prescribed in cases of arthritis include naproxen and ibuprofen. Although NSAIDs are very effective and do not come with the attached heart attack risk, we still have a problem with them in negative side effects. They can cause serious gastrointestinal problems. Examples can be given in bleeding and even ulcers.
The two most common medicine solutions for arthritis pain relief stand in COX-2 inhibitors and NSAIDs. As you can see, each comes with the attached possible negative side effects. With this in mind, how do you choose which one to take? First of all, you are not the one that should choose. Your doctor is the one that can actually make a good treatment prescription and knows what to give you. All you need to do is respect the indications to the letter in order to have as little problems as possible. Add a healthy diet, rest and exercise to the mix and you will also see that the medicine dose required will be lower. If your body is stronger, it can resist pain better and you can get better pain management results with lower quantities of medicine. On the other hand, when it comes to arthritis pain relief medicine, the best solutions available at the moment do stand in NSAIDs and COX-2 inhibitors. They can also be combined in treatment or NSAIDs can be mixed with stomach-protecting drugs available on the market. On the other hand, no matter how much pain you feel, you need to understand that taking more than the recommended dosage can lead to the above mentioned critical problems.
